Chores 07/01/2021

The weather has been cool and windy so we spent a lot of time catching up on projects that needed done in the Dirt Yacht. Living in the RV is not much different than home–there are still chores that need to get done!. We also had ShowHauler owners coming to look at our RV to help them make final decisions on their new rig, so I wanted to get her cleaned up a litte.

The first project I tackled was cleaning out my closets. The shirts in my closet were musty smelling so I took everything out, and washed them. I am not sure if they smelled musty because I have so many T-shirts stuffed in the hanging closet, or if it was because we had closed the RV up without air when we went to visit Ryan and left the Dirt Yacht in the driveway. I did quite a bit of laundry when we first got here, but did not realize we would be charged electric. I have not gotten our electric bill from Swan Bay RV Resort for the month of June yet, but I hope it’s not too high. (Update: Swan Bay charges .2697 per kw hour. That is ridiculious. I only pay .122 in the Keys) Before I put everything back, Randy built me some new shelves so my clothes could be better organized. I was even able to give Randy an extra part of one cupboard which made him happy. Now if I can just keep everything organized. Maybe a week or two!!

Home for Two Months: Medical Issues and New Jeep Gladiator 10/19/2020

It has been great being home, but I am looking forward to heading South and finding warm weather again. We have had frost a couple of mornings and I had to break out the long pants. I even had to give up my flip flops occasionally because my toes were too cold! We are lucky that we have not had any below freezing temperatures, but we have gotten close at 35 degrees.

ShowHauler: Repairs and Factory Tour 06/10/2019

We spent the morning at the ShowHauler factory getting a few minor things fixed on the Dirt Yacht. While we were waiting, Chad gave us a tour of their production line so we could get a look at their processes. After looking at the RVs in the building stages you can see the quality that goes into them. I didn’t see anything that I like as much as ours but there were some nice looking RVs. Chad thought the seats we are having fixed will be available in the morning so hopefully we can pick them up before lunch so we can get back on the road. While there Chad gave us a fridge fixer to hold our residential refrigerator and freezer doors closed while traveling. Much easier than having 2 separate closers

Back in Westminster!

It still doesn’t feel like we were in the Keys for (almost) 6 months. The last few days were really stressful with all of the packing needed and with Ty’s medical issues. Ty had his final checkup at the Marathon Veterinary Hospital on Monday morning as we were on our way out of the Keys. The Vet said all of his blood work looked good and he was over the 72 hour window where he was still in danger from the poison. They were so good to us there. They squeezed us in when they didn’t have an open appointment for Monday morning and saw us as soon as we walked in the door. It still added a couple of hours to the first day of our trip home, but it was a relief to know that Ty would be OK.

Dirt Yacht Lettering 1/29/2019

Randy took advantage of a windless day to apply the lettering to the RV. The Dirt Yacht lettering was a gift we bought each other for Christmas from Island Boat Lettering out of Wantagh, NY. We had looked at graphic design businesses in Key West but they were more expensive and used printed ink on vinyl paper instead of the solid vinyl lettering that we wanted. He watched the installation video on Island Boat Lettering’s website and followed their directions for a wet application. The installation turned out perfect. Our RV has now been officially named. Thanks again Carey for the name!
